There was a moment where she felt like Sythe was challenging her to do just that, dig. Of course she had planned to already, this woman was a mystery wrapped in a riddle and she would not allow that to go unanswered. Yet part of her was curious, she wondered if she truly wanted to know what this woman was hiding behind that wall of hers. Secrets were just that for a reason - they often carried some sort of negative impact on the one who carried them and the one who exposed them. Perhaps her true aims should be altered just a bit, before she broke into Sythe's secrets perhaps she should get to know her better.
Peyton carried her own burdens alone for many years, perhaps that was all it would take to break down both of their emotional barriers. It was hard to get a true reading from her however which made it hard for Peyton to figure out how to proceed. By her very nature she was a flirt, however she had no idea if that was even appropriate given their position here. 'Hm. Oh well.' she thought to herself. What was the harm in a little playful flirting among collegues?
"That almost sounded like a challenge. Be careful what you wish for, I am relentless when provided with a good mystery." she said, her tone very playfully. It was clear to Peyton however that this woman definitely didn't get out much. The way she seemed to shy away from physical contact, though perhaps it simply made her uncomfortable since they were not on best friend terms or anything of the sort. It didn't take long for her to relax beneath her touch which meant she was obviously doing a decent job of soothing away whatever had worn her down so much. When Sythe placed her hand upon Peyton's she froze for a moment, there was an odd sensation that came over her from the touch, but she chose to shake it off for the moment.
With a short laugh, she heartily agreed with her comment. "Most are not ready to face what is out there. True horrors that even the stories cannot paint an accurate picture of." she said, sounding a bit on the dramatic side. Though perhaps they would get along great considering that she had heard that the Defense against the Dark Arts teacher had a flair for dramatics herself. Just then the conversation shifted to what most refered to as her obsession. They were quite right of course even if she would never admit that she had one.
"Ah, yes. I have an interest myself though it is mostly personal." she said, a serious look replacing her usual smile. As she moved back around Sythe, she moved towards the book case and removed a book depicting a large Werewolf on the cover. "If you are offering I just might take you up on that offer. You teach me in private, though the questions I may ask might be a bit off putting. In exchange I will continue to aid you as needed." she said. As she waited for a reply her mind wandered for a moment back to the moment when Sythe had placed her hand on top of her own.
Snapping back to reality, she smiled at Sythe. "Don't be a stranger. I am more than happy to help ease the soreness of whatever it is you do." she said, there was a gleam in her eye as she said it. "Considering the length of contact with your hand on my own, I will take that as a sign of approval." she said, continuing to tease the woman playfully.
