Gathering Plants and Other Information - Sythe

It had been a few days since Rachel had last met Sythe in the courtyard. Since then she hadn't really met anyone else either. Greenhouse that she was allowed to use was a little small, the young professor had leaned to do most of her planting near or around it. Today, she was heading out by the lake to see if she could find some water specimens.

Walking briskly towards the lake, Rachel noted the different plants that were growing long the path down to the lake. She hadn't bother stopping to check on them, knowing well that if she did, she would probably never get anything that she wanted to do that day done. Shaking her head in amusement, the woman clutched the basket that she had been carrying closer to her and continued her walk.

Soon Rachel arrived at her destination and she looked around her taking in all of the different sights and smells. The lake's water looked amazing and it seemed to be calling her towards it. Striping of her sandals, the young woman walked into the lake. She sighed in relief at the coolness of the water brushing around her ankle.

Wadding around the edge of the lake, Rachel peered into the shallow waters around her. She hadn't really planned on discovering anything important. Perhaps she would be surprised by something wonderful.

Sythe had been lazing about, it had been something she did when she didn’t have any classes to teach, enjoying herself in such a beautiful place. She had been staring out the window of her studies, as her hazel eyes softly narrowed down to some one who had been walking towards the lake; a blond tuff of hair could be seen and she was sure she had a feeling to who it might be. She clucked her tongue off the roof of her mouth and stepped moving to walk towards her door a small smile growing on her face. She would move rather quickly, even in her heels that clapped barely audibly against the stone floor, walking past a few students her robes fluttering behind her, it had gripped her tightly, covering up her outfit.

She moved past a few students, some first years greeting her, she acknowledged the two with a nod of her head, as she smoothly walked across the courtyard, her dark hair had been pulled up to a tight ponytail that trailed behind her, as she stepped towards the lake, by the time she would get to it she would see the Professor had already been standing in the lake, her sandals on the grass, Sythe raised an eyebrow an amused look plastered across her face. ”A bit too chilly for a swim, but that’s just my opinion” she spoke with a soft giggle. She glanced around the area.

She had to move quickly, okay..so Sythe hadn't been a patient person; it wasn't her nature anyways. She continued to scan the area, taking in every detail- all the lush and different plants, it had been so weird that they had been so active still even though it had been growing colder and colder. She looked too the University in the distance and laughed softly, she hadn't realized how far it had actually been from the lake, she looked back to the Herbology Professor in front of her. The first day of classes had started already, so Sythe just assumed the Professor had been gathering plants..or some sort of herbology- thing that dealt with that stuff...okay.. like stated before between the two, Sythe wasn't exactly keen of Herbolgy, she saw it's importance.. she just to be blunt and simple; she sucked at it.

"So, i'm going to start my first few classes with a dramatic entrance, and their first lesson." she spoke, and if by that time Rachel had looked up, she would have seen quiet a devious shimmer to her eyes, a playful smile on her face, sometimes it'd be hard to tell if Sythe could ever be serious, she seemed ever so carefree. She glanced to the waters, "So, how have you been?" she questioned, her arms moving to cross slightly, she enjoyed the cold air- naturally being a bit warmer then most.

Rachel was slightly startled when she heard a voice behind her. Turning around, she smiled at who it was. "Hello Sythe. The water is a bit cold earlier, but it's fine now. However yes, I don't really want to swim in here thought." She then laughed softly along with the other professor before asking, "So how is everything since the last time I talked to you?"

At Sythe's comment about starting class off with a bang, Rachel grinned. "Sounds rather interesting, the way you are starting class. As for me, I'm just doing the usual approach, nothing over the top for me." The younger woman carefully wadded out of the water and onto the dry ground.

She had collected a few of the water plants that grew around the lake. Adding them into the basket that was half full, the Herbology professor stretched a little, trying to take the ache out of her back that had started to form.

"I'm alright myself. I was a bit frazzled trying to get everything done and in order for the first class. The classroom that the school gave me wasn't even prepared to teach Herbology." Rachel explained to the other woman.

She raised an eyebrow, and snickered softly to the girl’s reply, as she stayed just hovering there, looking over the waters. She grinned and looked to her, ”I see...so it isn’t exactly up to par with your standards?” she snickered, up to par. She doubted anyone would consider Hogwarts not up to par with their standards, but here had been the Herbology teacher, collecting plants. She snickered again, as her eyes narrowed on the girl. ”So...” she spoke calmly, ”If.. is isn’t up to par..does that mean some plant species are missing?” she asked with a raised eyebrow as she took a step back. ”Forgive me for asking, I had been meaning to ask you..” she gulped slightly, as she moved her hand to assure herself that her hair had been fine.

”Do you happen to have monkshood.” incredibly rare, yes. She paused and looked to the teacher. ”I need a bit of it, I understand it’s rarity...but in the intentions of purely academic use.” she gave a friendly smile, and walked to the edge of the waters, her heels sinking in the slightly moist dirt. She frowned, a look of annoyance flashing over her face for a mere second, as she held out her hand towards the other teacher to help her out of the waters, she doubted the Professor wanted to stay in the waters,especially whilst speaking to a colleague.

She had to act fast, it hadn’t been that the full moon had been fast approaching, it had been that the full moon had enjoyed sneaking up on her. Normal humans didn’t have to keep a schedule around the full moon. She had given a soft annoyed sigh at the thought, and paused; ”The class is uh, learning about werewolves in a few week’s, i’d just like to be a bit prepared.” she spoke with a nod of her head, as she glanced around- the sun had already been setting, it must have been around time for dinner; with her condition she tended to eat a lot more then most people, especially taking her steaks extremely rare.

Rachel shook her head at Sythe's question. "Not saying that it's not up to my standards, I can used whatever they give me. All I'm saying was that it was a bit small, so I grew most of my stuff outside." She explained with a smile.

Her attention was now momentarily divided for she had a feeling that something was not right. Rachel's eyes darted about to see what was causing her friend's uneasiness. "Nothing is missing from my herb stock, the last time I checked." The Herbology professor murmured, trying to push herself back to the conversation that she and Sythe was having.

At the word monkshood, Rachel's eyes widen. She knew that she had a fairly decent amount left, but the plant in question was rare, rare beyond imagination. The ingredient was most comingly used in a special werewolf's brew, the name was fleeting her memory at the moment. The professor had to go to a special place to get it too. Nodding her head, the young woman said, "Yes, I do have some."

Hearing Sythe's explanation to why she needed it, seemed a little faulty to Rachel. It was almost like the other woman was making it up. But she knew that it wasn't polite to pry on others personal information. So she just nodded her head. "Indeed, one needs to be fully prepared in order to teach that lesson well." She commented softly, glancing up at the darkening sky. Oh she had stayed out that long already?

Sythe paused her lips pursing slightly, as she answered, ah so it had only been small. Her own room, had been quiet large actually- but that’s only due to the fact that wizard duels she would teach, chewing on her tongue slightly, as she listened to Rachel, she nodded her head. ”I just figured students would be playing pranks is all.” she spoke, not that they had messed with her, but her ever so sensitive ears heard a lot, the whispers of the students, the rumors that they spread between each other, even now with the full moon growing closer and closer by the days, she could hear the soft pitter patter of creatures in the woods behind them, and she could swear she could even hear the soft delicate sway of the fins of the sea creatures in the lake, that no doubt would stare to the girls with curious eyes but not dare to come any closer.

She raised an eyebrow ever so slightly, she could almost sense the uneveness in Rachel’s aura, she paled a bit, but quickly would shake it off when Rachel hadn’t been looking at her. Sythe knew that even if Rachel wanted to believe Sythe, she wouldn’t. Her jaws tightened to the point where it began to hurt her jaws.. she needed that plant, her fingers would grip into her palms ever so slightly, and she would take a step back from the waters as a small wave would go to caress her shoes, after all- it’d be hard to explain why she smelled like wet dog if she happened to get wet; especially since dogs weren’t allowed on the campus.

A soft smile formed on her face hearing her, she smiled- this is exactly what she needed to hear; well that sounded like a yes to her. Giving a soft sigh of relief, she glanced to Hogwarts. ”Thank you, when would be best for me to come to your class to pick it up?” she asked as her arms fell to her side, going into the pockets of her robes.

Students pulling pranks... well that could and would be a reason why things might go missing, but Rachel had checked her stocks over just the other day. She smiled at Sythe and murmured reassuringly, "No need to worry Sythe. I just checked my stocks yesterday and everything was accounted for."

Rachel still felt slightly uneasy about the situation she was in right now, and the paling of Sythe's face didn't help either. Oh she just wished that the woman would tell her what was wrong. She wasn't the type of person who would judge someone, no matter what type of situation they were in.

With a sigh, she muttered softly, "You are very welcome. Stop by anytime really. But Sythe..." Rachel bit her lips, but then forged on, "I do wish you would tell me what's wrong. I'm not a person to judge someone.  No matter what type of situation you are in, I'll try to be open and understand to the best of my ability."

Looking over the woman, she raised an eyebrow at her words. No- Sythe couldn’t tell her the truth, it’d be too dangerous for anyone, besides- werewolves weren’t exactly welcomed really, but it’d make sense due to the wild natures of the creatures.. of herself. But the woman’s words, they seemed so sincere. She paused and her eyes would seem to hold something, Sythe moving to open her mouth, but quickly shut it. She had to be safe, she would glanced around and see that the entire area had been seemingly empty.

She rose her finger, gesturing for the teacher to stay silent for a moment; her hazel eyes closing tight. Her ears would twitch at the different sounds in around them. Alone, or something or someone could be easily hidden. She opened her eyes, and they seemed to have a sparkle to them, as she stared to the lake, her eyes seemed to hold so many stories- she seemed to want to tell Rachel so badly.

Bad things happened when she spoke the truth, bad things happened when it involved werewolves. Thoughts of her brother would flutter in her mind, humans hated werewolves... no she had been a human... she was a human.. she had illness.. a sickness Sythe gave a soft sigh, humans hated what they feared. "The plant is for myself." she spoke calmly, quietly- in fact it would strain the teachers ears just to listen, but she spoke back. Sythe took a step back.

She told her, there....It felt good.. in an odd way, hiding and keeping secrets had been something Sythe had been used too, but it hadn’t been something she liked doing, no she absolutely detested hiding who she was, she actually thought her lycan form had been rather beautiful.. bloody deadly; but beautiful at that.

”The Head Mistress knows.” her hands had been shaking ever so lightly, it’d be barely noticeable, but Sythe had slowly been edging away from the blood teacher. "I am sick.." The life of a werewolf had been a sad one, a lonely one.

Rachel sincerely hoped that Sythe would tell her what was wrong and her hope was soon answered. The other woman looked around the lake as if to see if anyone was around them. Sythe also motioned for her to be silent and the young professor nodded her head and kept her mouth closed.

When the Dark Arts professor finally opened her eyes and looked back at her, Rachel thought that she saw that they were bright, almost shining. Then the truth came. Sythe said that the plants that she wanted before was for herself. The Herbology professor's eyes grew wide. So if Sythe wanted the monkshood, then perhaps she was a.... Her mouth dropped open, but nothing came out.

When the other woman took a step backwards, Rachel snapped her mouth closed. She let out a slight cough and whispered, "So, that's it then? You are one of them?" She made a soft sympathetic noise. "Poor Sythe, why didn't you tell me this before? I would have went straight back to my classroom and gotten it for you." And that was honestly what she would have done. The young professor never really understood why everyone feared the werewolves. They were like regular humans, except for that during the full moon, they change into wolves.

Sythe had paused and looked to her, she tilted her head slightly at the woman's words. She looked to her, and glanced to the ground, it felt so good.. telling some one what she was; maybe even.. Rachel would want to be her friend..yeah? Sythe stared to her, and her eyes stayed focused on the blonde. Although, sympathy was an emotion she didn't care for, it had also been something that had been rare to her. She gave a soft sigh.

Poor Sythe. If there had been a movie about her life, or even better a book- that'd be the title. She smiled, and took a few steps towards the teacher, allowing her heels to sink into it, she would move closer, into the waters and would give Rachel a quick hug, as she stared to her- pure gratitude swimming in the woman's eyes. "Very few people, to this day do not care to understand the sickness, just fear it." she spoke softly to her.

Sythe stared to the waters, really- only her family, the remainder of her family that is, and the head mistress had been so kind to her after learning what she had been, and now this blonde teacher who she assumed would have reacted much more differently, then she actually had that was. She gave another sigh of relief, it had been as if she let go all of her fears and worries with that exhale- staring to her, as she looked to the moon, it had been peeking over the school, it seemed a little more then half full.

Her eyes for a moment had been temporarily fixed on it,feeling her heart beat slowly skip a few beats, and even slow down for a few moments, before shaking her head. "I am in debt to you." she spoke and paused, "...I am a white werewolf."she spoke quietly, too her knowledge white werewolves had been a bit rare, but then again the only other werewolf she saw had been as black as night. "My brother is the one who changed me, he is in Azkaban..." her brother had also been that black werewolf.

"He was the one who murdered my father." she spoke quietly, as she turned her back to the woman and walked out of the water slowly, her nose twitched, the faint scent of wet dog would drift into the air, this had been Sythe's way of.. showing the teacher she had trusted her now, that she had considered her a friend. "Thank you.."
