It was the first day of class for her and already she had much distracting her from her lesson plan. Yet she had to focus for today seeing as how the potion she wished to begin with was one surrounded by much tabboo. Of course they would not be learning to brew this potion; it was purely research work into it's many uses, strengths, and weaknesses. After a rough first day she decided that they would recieve no homework and thus this lesson came to be. Setting several vials of a clear liquid on the front of her desk, Peyton stood with her arms acrossed as she looked out over the empty classroom. Any minute now her students should be filing in through the door to the dungeons, though she did not expect to see a very eager expresson on any of their faces. Potions was a very slow art that took much focus and very simple uses of wand work which often had a tendancy to bore young witches and wizards.
Miss Lovelace was sure to send out a note to the students to let them know that they needed nothing more than parchment and an attention span today. She assumed that would raise morale and attendance if they knew that there would be very light course work. This was going to change in the days to come yet for today she would try to get off on the right foot with someone in this castle for once. Removing her wand, she gave it a quick flick as the lanterns in the room dimmed a bit. She was not one to put on a show for her students but she felt that it helped set a certain tone for the course. Potions were an art of accuracy and often secrecy. Getting someone to imbibe a potion unnoticed was no easy task, but it was an art that could very well save your life one day.
Climbing upon her desk, Miss Lovelace sat with her legs crossed as she waited. It was going to be a very casual atmosphere today. Unlike most of her teachers at Hogwarts, Miss Lovelace felt a need to get to know them on a more personal level. She loved what she did and perhaps that showed in how much individual attention she attempted to give to each student in her class. If it was up to her she would pass every single one of them so long as they put in the hard work and made some sort of effort to learn. The effort was worth more in her class than the final product of a potions lesson. Behind her would sit a black board with a piece of chalk that seemed to be hovering just off of the black surface of the board. The board it's self would read;Welcome to Potions lesson one.
Todays current topic: Veritaserum (The effects both positive and negative) and it's uses. Please be seated and remove a fresh piece of parchment and a quill. Now all that was left was for the students to file in. She would greet them all with a bright grin as they entered, welcoming them from the moment they set foot into the class.
