Just a normal aftermath of breakfeast (open)

    Victor let out a sigh as he sat at the Ravenclaw table. The dinning hall was mostly emptied by now, due to most of the students leaving for class or to just go do something else in the meantime. Classes wouldn't begin for a while for Victor, so he was stuck with free period. Man how he hated it. He had nothing to do except dread the fact that something might happen.

    He could go back to the Ravenclaw common room or to his bed and fall back asleep? No, he wouldn't be able to fall asleep and he didn't need to risk falling asleep only to run like a crazy person throughout the halls trying to get to his classes. Wait....he kind of already ran through the halls like a crazy person didn't he? Thankfully he had no bruises but he wouldn't always be lucky in that department.

Alex yawned slightly as he walked into the dining hall. He had been too busy sleeping and missed most of lunch due to him having two free periods right before it and right after it. Walking to the Ravenclaw table, he spotted a boy sitting by himself. Deciding to talk to him as he quickly ate lunch, the older boy walked over and sat down. "Hello there, you look bored. What's up?"

As he said that, Alex piled on a few things onto a plate before starting to eat. Hopefully the elves hadn't start to clean up yet, or else he might have to take a trip down to the kitchen again. Having eaten a few bites, the boy turned back to the kid next to him and added, "I'm Alex by the way, and you are?"

    Victor was taken by surprise when someone took a seat next to him. A fellow ravenclaw at least. Victor's brown gaze landed on Alex for a moment, before looking a little bit away.

    "Hi..." Victor greeted weakly even though he attempted to say 'hello' instead of hi. "Tends.....to happen when....there's nothing to do..."

    Victor hadn't really eaten all that much come to think about it. He had really just made his way down here and sat here the whole time. True he had eaten a few things but not much. He wasn't a big eater, would help explain his thin appearance.

    "I'm...Vi..Victor." Victor responded to Alex's question.

Smiling at the other student, Alex was amused at how timid he was. Taking a bite of his toast, the boy nodded his head, "I see. Do you often tend to have nothing to do?" He asked in amusement, "I find myself with a lot of things to do here at the University." What he said was true. He had a lot of things he had to do and adding to the long list was the date he still had to plan for.

Reaching out a hand for Victor to shake, Alex laughed and said, "Nice to meet you Victor. I'm a third year by the way, so if you need to ask questions, I'm here for you." He gave the boy a friendly smile, hoping for a positive answer from him. Behind him a few peopel greeted him loudly. The older boy grinned and waved to them before setting his attention back on to Victor.

    "Only when....classes aren't in session." Victor answered.

    Victor stared at the hand for a moment. Raising his a hand, he went to shake Alex's. However he paused and jumped a small bit when he heard other students greeting Alex.  When Alex returned his attention to him, Victor raised his hand again and this time shook it.

    "I'm a...first year..." Victor said as he shook Alex's hand weakly.

    He released it rather quickly though, not sure on what to make on Alex's offer. A weak smile tried to make it's way to Victor's face. But just as part of it formed, it disappeared. Victor looked off to the side a bit as he felt a bit stupid for not being able to do a smile as weak as it was.

"Good answer, as expected from a Ravenclaw." Alex replied with a grin. He chuckled softly and polished off another piece of toast from his plate. As he watched the younger boy stare at his hand, the older boy began to wonder if he had offended Victor in anyway.

He felt the other boy jump a little at the loud greetings and felt bad. When Victor finally shook his hand, Alex said apologetically, "Sorry about that. Those guys are in Quidditch. I'm the Quidditch referee." He then nodded his head and murmured mostly to himself, "First year huh? No wonder you are so shy... well it'll hopefully change in a few years."

Alex frowned slightly when he saw Victor try to smile but didn't. He placed a hand on the boy's shoulder and asked, "You okay Victor?" A concerned look came across the older boy's face. He hadn't thought that Victor was that shy of a boy....

    "It....it's fine....they...they just surprised me..." Victor said, referring to the apology Alex had given. "Well...I...it's not....because I'm..."

    Upon being asked if he was okay, Victor went silent. His mind raced to find the best choice of words. However...the sudden hand on his shoulder caused Victor to jump and even pull a bit away. That startled him more than the sudden greetings Alex's friends gave. One could swear Victor was cowering as he sat there, he wasn't sitting up straight, sort of hunched over. When Victor realized that Alex hadn't meant anything bad about it and the concerned expression on his face, Victor sat up a bit.

    "S....sorry....I'm just...." Victor started. "I...I'm normally...."

    Great....can't even explain how I normally act. Just great. Victor thought in his head.

A confused look came upon Alex’s face as he tried to decipher what the boy was babbling about. He got the fact that his friends surprised Victor, but that was probably all he got. Everything else was just rather jumbled together.

Holding up a hand to silence him, Alex said, ”Okay there, buddy. Slow down a bit and relax. I’m not going to hurt you in anyway. Seriously are you this jumpy?” He then shook his head and murmured, ”No need to apologize. Is there some way I can help you not be so nervous around me?”

Alex now really wished he had some way to look into the boy’s head. He can’t really do much for him, if he can’t talk to him without making Victor jump or cower every few seconds. It was rather frustrating and heartbreaking at the same time to see someone well… so timid.

    Victor went silent and looked away. It was a obvious thing wasn't it? That he was normally this jumpy. He only nodded his head. Clearly words were just useless when it came to him talking right now. However upon the next question, Victor would have to speak. How was he suppose to reply to that though? Victor didn't even know the answer to that one really.

    "I...I'm not....really sure..." Victor answered eventually. "I've...I've always been....like....like this...."

    After a few moments of silence, Victor looked at Alex and shrugged. He really didn't know what to say. He then quickly looked away however and put his arms on the table and his chin in the middle.

    "It's just...natural....for me..." Victor added.

Oops… as Victor looked away from him, Alex wondered if he had said something wrong. No, but the boy did admit that he was this jumpy all the time. Bother. The older boy heaved a sigh and murmured, ”You’re not sure? Well we have all the time in the world to figure out right? I guess the first step is to learn to trust people. When you can do that, things just come easier later.”

Alex looked at Victor and shook his head. This boy maybe hopeless, but he had to try at least. He wasn’t a Ravenclaw for nothing. ”Natural or not Victor. I’m here to help you. Just think of me as an older brother, if that makes you feel any better.”
